India is rapidly building the foundation for becoming a global AI powerhouse.
At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, the Government of India announced plans to add more than 20,000 GPUs to the country’s AI compute infrastructure.
India’s growth is also being supported by a strong expansion in data centre infrastructure. Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru are emerging as major AI and cloud infrastructure hubs.
Mumbai currently leads India’s data centre ecosystem with more than 600 MW of operational capacity and over 1,100 MW under development.
